Ensembles in residence

Les Muffatti, conducted by Peter Van Heyghen
The baroque orchestra Les Muffatti was founded by a number of young musicians from Brussels whose commitment and passion attracted recorder player Peter Van Heyghen, who joined the ensemble as conductor. Ever since their debut in 2004 they have been acquiring a style of performance that is completely based on baroque theatricality. The name of the ensemble refers to Georg Muffat (1653-1704), a key figure in the emergence of the orchestra. www.lesmuffatti.be

Ensemble Explorations, conducted by Roel Dieltiens
The Ensemble Explorations, founded in 1997, is an international group of outstanding musicians, always keen to explore interaction with the other arts as well as innovative programmes. They use both period instruments and modern ones, depending on the repertoire. During the season 2010-2011 new projects are in the works behind the wings. For the time being key figure Roel Dieltiens performs with other house friends of AMUZ and with the international top soloists Daniel Sepec and Andreas Staier. www.explorations.be

HERMESensemble, conducted by Koen Kessels
The HERMESensemble is an Antwerp collective for contemporary music and art that actively pursues the transgression of artistic borders. This season marks the 10th anniversary of the group. The AMUZ concert hall challenges the HERMESensemble on each occasion to take optimal advantage of the acoustics and the spatial qualities of the house. In the process connections between old and new repertoire are sounded out, while concurrently offering production opportunities to young Flemish composers. www.hermesensemble.be
