Artists in residence Laus Polyphoniae 2011: La Colombina

Artist in residence of Laus Polyphoniae 2011 is La Colombina, an ensemble of four inspired singers who have already proved their mettle as soloists. The quartet will take care of three concerts during Laus Polyphoniae 2011, among them one with the Daedalus Ensemble and one with Oltremontano.
 

Paul Van Nevel will be conspicuously present too, opening for the occasion his own literary café: a place with atmosphere where Van Nevel enters with different guests into conversations about his love for Portugal. Of course the fado is an indispensable ingredient for such late evening discussions. Besides Huelgas Ensemble will bring two concerts, among them the successful production Tears of Lisbon.

The thema of Laus Polyphoniae 2011 is Sons Portugueses. The festive opening of the festival will be provided by a grandiose concert about the wedding of Philip the Good and Isabella of Portugal. This spectacular opening evening with Capilla Flamenca, More Maiorum and Mezzaluna will be designed by fashion designer Tim Van Steenbergen. Furthermore AMUZ will lead you along a new route during the IYAP walking concert as well as presenting - for the first time in the history of the festival - a concert especially for babies and toddlers! Laus Polyphoniae 2011 will again become a festival of early music bubbling with enthusiasm!
