Laus Polyphoniae 2020 #connects
Laus Polyphoniae 2020 #connects is the new direction that AMUZ (Festival of Flanders Antwerp) is taking with the international early music festival this summer: an online festival as a resilient and creative response to the situation today.
Although coming together physically for a festival is not possible this summer, AMUZ believes very strongly in the power of music. Love, grief, hope and farewells have inspired sublime music for centuries. Laus Polyphoniae 2020 #connects aims to offer an alternative way to connect, inspire, enlighten and entertain musicians and listeners, young and old, around the world. The 27th edition of our festival will offer a carefully chosen selection of (online) activities from Friday 21 to Sunday 30 August.
Nothing can replace a live performance at AMUZ or elsewhere in the historic city of Antwerp, but the safety of the many musicians from Belgium and abroad, our festival visitors, volunteers and staff comes first at present.
POLYPHONY of life
The programme put together for this edition of the festival, entitled POLYPHONY of life, will be shifted in its entirety to 2022 (19-28 August). That means that you will be able to hear the same concerts, the same artists and the same programmes each day, but two years later. Next year, after all, Laus Polyphoniae will be honouring the 500th anniversary of the death of one of the greatest Franco-Flemish polyphonists, Josquin des Prez.
