Education for advanced musicians

Cappella Pratensis summerschool 2018

To coincide with Laus Polyphoniae’s 25th anniversary in 2018, the theme of the annual polyphony summer school will be ‘Celebrations’. We will look at the greatest polyphonists of the 15th and 16th centuries – Guillaume Dufay, Josquin des Prez, Heinrich Isaac, Jacobus Clemens non Papa and Orlandus Lassus – and select the most impressive works for celebratory occasions and important patrons from their oeuvres. At this summer school, advanced amateurs and aspiring professional musicians receive a week of coaching from international experts, using the historical sources to make music. To give their work extra lustre, this year’s singers will be accompanied by trombones and shawms, led by Wim Becu of Oltremontano.

International Young Artist’s Presentation 2018

The International Young Artist’s Presentation (IYAP) gives young vocal and instrumental artists and ensembles a foothold in the international music scene. The selected artists and ensembles will be intensively coached and mentored by one or more leading international artists. They will also have the chance to perform at Laus Polyphoniae in Antwerp and an opportunity to present their work to a committee of international representatives from the world of music. The coaching and concerts are free for participating artists and ensembles. In this way, the International Young Artist’s Presentation aims to encourage young musicians and help them make a name for themselves on the international music scene. These artists and ensembles continue to be promoted afterwards.
