Guided tour of the city of Antwerp
Baroque Shock: a limited edition
An exclusive introduction to timeless creativity and ostentation
Baroque Shock brings together the two most beautiful Baroque churches in Antwerp. However this new city walk is far more than an encounter with the wonderful religious art of the 17th century. An enthusiastic city guide will show you the highlights of the Baroque in Antwerp and the traces it has left behind in the streets, as well as the hearts and minds of the city’s residents. After all, the city on the Scheldt remained under the spell of the Baroque for centuries. This can be seen in the countless magnificent facades in luxurious rococo, glamorous neo-Baroque and impressive Beaux-Arts style. The Baroque even fascinates and inspires contemporary artists in 2018, so we will be looking at their new creations as well!
The highlight of this temporary thematic walk will be an exclusive visit to the former St. Augustine’s Church: Music Centre AMUZ. The famous Antwerp all-round artist Jan Fabre has designed three new works for the magnificent interior of the Baroque church especially for ‘Antwerp Baroque 2018’.
‘Baroque Shock’ is a stunning introduction to almost unrivalled glamour, making it a unique experience that explains Antwerp’s ongoing admiration and love of the Baroque. Unmissable!
