Boyan Vodenitcharov & Edding Quartet

The Edding Quartet has been performing ever since 2007 classical and romantic quartet repertoire on period instruments. The ensemble is famous for its fresh and intelligent approach of popular works. Ever eager to broaden its horizon and motivated by love for the 19th-century repertoire for chamber music, the ensemble regularly joins forces with Bulgarian pianist Boyan Vodenitcharov.

This season AMUZ gives Brahms pride of place. From his impressive oeuvre Edding and Vodenitcharov selected the transparent and innovative String Quartet nr 3 in B flat major and the Piano Quintet in F minor. Originally the latter score was conceived as a string quintet. Brahms adapted that concept to a sonata for two pianos before the work got its final shape. The original string quintet was destroyed by the perfectionist composer.
