Jan Vermeulen & friends
For many years Jan Vermeulen has been devoting himself to Schubert’s complete works for fortepiano, resulting in high international acclaim for this ideal Schubert interpreter. Together with some sympathetic strings players, among them top cellist France Springuel and AMUZ fixtures Christine Busch and Paul De Clerck – he plays the famous Trout Quintet and other chamber music by Schubert.
The musical paths of France Springuel and Jan Vermeulen did not cross each other until 2010, but the mutual feeling of recogniton was great, and the chemistry on the stage intense. AMUZ is exceedingly happy to present Springuel using gut strings. Her instrument is a Balestrieri cello from 1752, a felicitous match for Jan Vermeulen’s Tröndlin fortepiano from 1830.
