Laus Polyphoniae invites the Italian keyboard specialist Lorenzo Ghielmi for a harpsichord recital with repertoire from Monteverdi’s era. You will hear music by, among others, Tarquinio Merula, Giovanni Paolo Cima, Luzzasco Luzzaschi and his famous pupil Girolamo Frescobaldi.
Luzzaschi, praised by Frescobaldi as musician and teacher, published at least three volumes with Ricercares. Unfortunately these publications were lost, except one that survives in a manuscript. That’s why only a handful of works for keyboard by Luzzaschi has come down to us. Be sure to let yourself be spoiled by Ghielmi and the originators of the Italian clavier style.
